Whether you want to make your entire home more energy efficient or simply want to get rid of chilly indoor drafts in the winter, Home Energy Medics offers an energy audit to suit your needs. Explore our service options to find what best suits your needs.
Our full service home energy audit will give you the most comprehensive and in-depth look at your home. It starts with an exterior inspection of your property, including the roof, foundation, and grading, and then moves indoors for diagnostic testing, covering every inch of your house. After the full audit, your auditor will create a full report about your home. Then, they will meet with you to discuss their findings, recommended fixes, and a retrofit work proposal.
The full audit includes:
Exterior and interior inspection
Combustion safety testing
Furnace or boiler and water heater efficiency analysis
Blower door test
Infrared camera analysis
Duct leakage assessment
Detailed audit report containing recommended fixes
Retrofit work proposal
AND MORE!
Duration & Cost: The full audit takes approximately 4 to 6 hours on-site and starts at $595. The cost of the audit is applied entirely towards the appropriate level of recommended improvements, meaning your audit could end up being completely free!
#2: Estimate (Discontinued)
Please note: Our standalone partial estimate option has been discontinued. We have found that even what appears to be an isolated problem often has several root causes, and the brief time allotted for a standard estimate appointment did not allow us to properly uncover or address them. To ensure accurate, lasting results for our clients, all home assessments are now conducted as a comprehensive Full Audit. No worries though, the cost of your audit is applied towards the appropriate level of recommended improvements!
ENERGY AUDIT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I get a partial energy estimate for just one problem room or space?
No, we have discontinued standalone partial estimates. Isolated issues (like a single drafty room) are almost always symptoms of house-wide airflow and insulation imbalances. To find the root cause and provide a lasting solution, a full home assessment is required across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC.
Why is a full energy audit the best option?
Most comfort and efficiency problems stem from multiple underlying factors. Our Full Audit evaluates your entire home's building envelope, giving you an accurate, data-driven roadmap of the most cost-effective improvements you can make to address what appears to be a single isolated issue or multiple concerns.
Should I choose a free home energy audit instead?
Free audits are typically quick, visual walkthroughs used as a sales pitch. They lack the advanced diagnostic tools, like blower door testing, infrared thermal imaging, and a complete HVAC system assessment, needed to find hidden defects. Our comprehensive, BPI-certified audit provides a deep, scientific diagnostic evaluation of your home.

Looking for Duct Sealing? Did you know...
There is a substantial amount of energy loss when your HVAC system works overtime to make up for leaks and gaps in your ductwork. In addition to increased energy bills, the unnecessary strain on your system can significantly shorten its lifespan or lead to costly repairs. Air duct leaks can also create indoor air quality issues by allowing dust, allergens, and other pollutants easy access to the air circulating through your home. Having properly sealed ducts keeps these pollutants out of the air you breathe and balances temperatures, leaving your home feeling more comfortable.
